“Moped Crashing Into Tuk-tuk, Tourist With New Story”

034. Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening! While I haven’t been posting, that doesn’t mean I have stopped writing… the last time I saw Wifi was back in Mumbai, approximately eight days ago. I’m currently in Goa, India with my little brother. We’ve been here eight days and plan on staying here until we fly back to our respective countries of residence… yep, I’m flying back to DC a few months earlier than planned – just in time for New Year’s and snow, I hope. I suppose this is the price you pay when you upgrade from backpacker to … hot water, endless piles of food, a glacial flow of cold booze, and other educational indulgences. Enjoy, and happy holidays!

I’m doing it again! My gustatory curiosity got the better of me – I don’t know what the hell I’m eating!

This is some sort of traditional Khmer dish, but aside from something orange, something green, a never ending noodle, and some kind of meat, I could be eating yesterday’s garbage with a few traditional Khmer spices. I’ll let you know tomorrow.

I’m upstairs looking down on the street below me. Street names exist, according to some maps, but I don’t see any. I should start naming streets. I’ll take my cue from Native Americans, should anybody ask.

“[F]oxymoron, where is that place you ate the unidentifiable Khmer dish?”

“It is located at ‘moped crashing into Tuk-tuk, tourist with new story’.”

The tuk-tuk driver takes a tumble. They moped driver immediately stops and walks over to the fallen tuk-tuk driver. I expect a knife fight. There is no arguing. There is no yelling. Nothing. The moped driver picks up something and hands it to the tuk-tuk driver. There is mutual patting, wound inspections, and vehicle inspections. They don’t exchange insurance cards. A large white man gets back into the tuk-tuk.

I marvel. Will this noodle ever end?

Ahh tuk-tuks. Love them. I think when you come back, we should start a joint tuk-tuk venture in DC. I think it could be profitable.

I was wondering where you’ve been. Damn the lack of the internet access!

    I hope yesterday’s garbage/Khmer dish worked out okay… :)

So why did you decide to come back early? (I’m planning to hold you to your cupcake-promise, by the way…)

    Never ending noodle.

    Sounds like tapeworm to me.

    God, I’m horrible.

It’s 17 degrees here with 20 mile per hour winds this morning. The high will be 30. Are you SURE you want to come back now?
