018. I’m looking at my watch, congratulating myself on finding the correct train, the correct train car, and stocking up on pineapple crackers, mountain dew, and Indian leisure reading with 4 minutes and 38 seconds to spare.
I step inside. An old Indian man looks at my ticket and points me in the opposite direction. Attempting to turn around inside the narrow train passage with my pack on, I’m quickly wedged at an odd angle. I hear a chuckle. I laugh, twist, then slowly back out.
I’m now comfortably situated in my upper berth AC sleeper guzzling Mountain Dew as the Indian family sharing the compartment patiently explains how things work. When the trains starts moving they all immediately stop speaking, roll over, and fall asleep. At 11:00pm, it is still early. I grab an Indian FHM magazine and learn that the latest fashion trend is to “ride the camel”, you know, sport the camel colored suit.
Under blankets, wearing a beanie cap and freezing, I wonder when I’ll run into a Yeti. Sleeping, my thought freezes.
It is now early morning, the sun is rising and I have no caffeine. My options are limited to flat Mountain Dew and flat Mountain Dew. I grab onto some handlebars instead and hang outside the train for twenty minutes. This is a suitable substitute.
And this is what happens when you hang outside a train with a camera… I bet you’ll be shocked when you get near the end of the vid. Enjoy!

I’m glad to know that you’re still alive. I’m also slightly disgusted (but I do feel your pain… those puppies are all the rage in Greece and Siciliy!)
Keep up the good work, sugarpie.
Cool video, dude. Keep your wits and towel about you!
It’s fun reading about your travels. Cool video! And you actually showed yourself (albeit slightly). I was beginning to think you might be a green troll or something, as secretive as you are about your identity.
Pineapple crackers sound yum. Great video!
You’re a white male. More videos please – the mystery is slowly unravelling!
That video brings back many memories…I definitely remember that bathroom!
Great video + music choice.
Awww… did you like the bathroom?! *evil laugh*
Wow.
I saw it! I saw it! I clicked on it again and it magically reappeared! Yay me!
dangit. I’m always a day late and a dollar short. Missed the video. Loved the train story however.
Great video – I can’t believe how clear the picture is! I so need a better camera!
Post more pics!
first class all the way!
