004. Planning is like waxing – neither of which I particularly enjoy. No questions, please. But an adventure this prolonged necessitates at least some degree of planning, so I’ll grit my teeth and let ‘er rip. And so far, this is just a sample of what I’ve learned…
- Looking through a guidebook isn’t planning. (This is wishful thinking)
- Neither is reading travel stories or travel blogs
… But…
- Setting up secure access routes to all financial matters is planning
- Acquiring travel insurance is just as nuanced and infuriating as navigating health insurance (for Americans, at least)
- Determining what to do with my possessions is an odd problem. Storage? Sale? Give Away? Donate? A lot of Americans are fortunate to have this problem, as evidenced by the explosive growth in the “storage industry”
- Getting inoculated with life saving concoctions. You think sunset in a tropical paradise, I think needle jabs for Yellow Fever, Typhoid Fever, and Japanese encephalitis
